Long nights......

Hi there. Was just diagnosed Wednesday with stage 4. Finding it pretty tough and awake a lot of the night. Just wondered if there was anyone about for company.

Kind regards to you all xxx

  • Hi Kate,

I'm so sorry to hear your diagnosis, I know there are just no words to explain how totally awful you are feeling. I too have stage four, was diagnosed a year ago. Are you having any treatment, what sort of cancer is it? (Please don't feel you have to answer my questions if you don't want to!).

Night times are so hard aren't they, your mind works overtime & there seems to be no stopping it! I hope you find some coping mechanisms soon, hopefully some people on here will have some good advice.

Sorry I haven't been much help, but I really hope you manage to get some sleep soon & feel free to chat anytime.

    Louise xx

  • Hi, Kate, the middle of the night is a lonely time, isn't it!  I am usually awake at that time and on here .  My pain relief stops at about 3 or 4 and takes another hour to kick in again.    I presume that your are awake with your mind working overtime thinking about your diagnosis.  You will come to terms with it, in time,  but are you able to catch up during the day or do you work?

When you have a treatment plan and know exactly what is happening I am sure you will start to get some more sleep.  Thinking of you and I am sure we will chat in the middle of the night sometime!

  • Hello Kate, welcome to the forum, there will be plenty of company on here at all times from some really good people, it helps enormously.

Like you, I was in a very dark place when first diagnosed, but, as Pauline says, once treatment has started I think you will feel more settled.  There will also be plenty of other fellow patients to talk to when you do start treatment, so you won't feel so alone.

    God bless,

    Hazel x

  • Hello Pauline,

How are you, sounds as though you have started treatment at the new hospital at last?

I think of you a lot Pauline.

    Take care, Hazel x

  • Hi, Hazel, I have my first appointment at my new hospital next Wednesday, so hoping they can help with medication/treatment anything really.

How are you?   Did you start your new chemo yesterday?  I hope you are feeling as good as you possibly can after treatment. Llots of healing thoughts and love to you. x

Lovely to hear from you, Pauline.  Please God you can get some better treatment at the new place for your pain and problems.  I know everything's been dragging you down.

I had no.3 chemo yesterday, don't feel too bad thanks, just tired (from the steroids, I think).  Nevertheless have just battled in the wind to shopping centre and back, about three hours walking, so bet I sleep tonight!

If you feel well enough, let me know how you get on next week.  As I said, I do think of you a lot, and always pounce on any message I see is a recent one from you on various threads to see how you are doing.

    Love, Hazel x
