Liver PET/MRI scan

Ultrasound showed I have a 2cm liver lesion.  I had ct, endoscopy and MRI 2 weeks ago. I rang the 2 week cancer referral people for an update and was told my mri went to dr presentation Tue just gone.  That the mri results are just indetermined, prob not cancer  PET/MRI scan 3 months time.

No outpatient appt to discuss the results, though I have asked for a face to face appt to discuss scan results, this may take 2 months. Still worried they dont know what the lesion is, is this common?

  • Hi

I had an endoscopy a week ago.

Was given the report.. All seems normal.

But today I receive a letter saying I've got a out patient appointment on the 25th of August.

That's in 5 weeks time.... Anxiety has started AGAIN

  • My endoscope was 2 weeks ago, showed no cancer but some erosive gastritis. The liver lesion may be caused by some kind of liver disorder rather than cancer.  I've got so many questions in my head now.

  • Oh don't.. Me too.

What's a liver leison? Did they see that on the ct?

Its awful isn't it. I thought my stress and worry was over... But then getting this today has set me back.

I know it's not for 5 weeks yet, and some may say well they are not rushing but what's it for... It says you may need a procedure

  • It's a mass on the liver 2cm. I've got to wait 2 months for an outpatients appt, 3 months for a PET/MRI scan. I hated the mri scan, 20 mins with my arms above head with elbows out, was painful on my arms and back of neck. Yes it was a mass on ultrasound and ct. I may not have cancer, but I may have some other liver disorder, when I will found out who knows.

What was your case, do you have a mass of any type?

  • They are long wait times aren't they? Especially as you say you might not have cancer

So 2cm is that small then?

When I had my ct scan it showed a soft tissue nodule at the ampulla so that's why I had the endoscopy.

Of my stomach, duodenum and Pylorus

  • Yes it's fairly small, I also have inflammation of the liver lymph nodes which has apparently gone down a bit, but not gone. Almost seems like if they dont think its cancerous, they are not in any hurry to sort out what it is. But any disorder of the liver can turn malignant at a later stage if not dealt with (google told me that lol).

Yours is not cancer? Not malignant? You have an outpatient appointment and says you may need a procedure, but doesant say what procedure?

  • Google Hmmmm I drove myself mad with it prior to ct and endoscopy.

I made friends on here and I am sure I drove them mad but they were all so supportive of me.

So.  It said what they looked at appears normal.

    Duodenum

    Pylorus.

    Oesophagus.

    Stomach.

    No biopsies taken.

    Diagnosis normal.

Yeh it says out patient appointment. With gastroenterology and you may need to have a procedure so be prepared to stay a little longer for pre assessment

    I don't understand at all.

This all started initially because I had a raised liver function.. Alkaline phosphate

  • I had bad pneumonia about 6 weeks ago, had fevers, so gp did blood tests, showed high level of raised liver function, cant remember which ones. Then came the hospital investigations. My endoscope showed no cancer but some gastric erosion which is not serious. Was the pneumonia caused by the liver problem, no one seems to know.

Is there a tel no on your letter, you can ring and find out what the procedure may be?

Were u referred on 2 week suspected cancer pathway, I was and I rang that department today and they gave me all the info so far I now know.

  • I thought I was on it.. Because I'm certain when I spoke with the consultants secretary she said I was.

But when I looked at the endoscopy report again today it says I wasn't.

    I'm confused.com!!!

How mine started was from my thyroid blood test and then gp rang and said its evelated and then all ultrasounds etc started. I read on my ct that I have alkaline phosphatase gamma gt. (don't know)

But one medication I take is known not to be good for the liver.

  • So that medication could be causing a problem. Ring the consultants sec and see if she knows what procedure, ring the 2 week referral people too, might as well.

I didnt realise we had to chase up everything, I thought gps would do that lol!

I'm hoping I can get some  more info when I have face to face outpatients appt, in 2 months lol, prob be just more confused after that too

    I hate having mri.
