Liver biopsy results

Hi,

My mum recently had a liver biopsy following an ultra sound which confirmed that she had a mass on the liver and they were 99% sure it was liver metastasis the liver biopsy confirmed the primary is a neuroendochrine tumor originating from supra calvicular node, it goes onto say strong diffuse positivity for AE1 and 3 and CDX2 and CD56 focal synaptophysin positivity noted. It goes on with lots of other testing and then states KI67 index is approx 65%.

We are not due to meet with the consultant until a week on Monday can anybody make sense of this for me and what treatments have you been offered?, I am desperate I really really can't loose my mum.

  • Hello Loulu82,

I am so sorry to hear about your mum's results it must be very difficult for you at the moment. I can imagine you are desperate to make sense of the medical jargon before your appointment with your consultant but your mum's consultant will be the expert and best placed to decypher it all for you as the medical terminology can be so complicated to understand.

It won't be long now before you see the consultant and you can be guided as to what it all means and are told what the implications of these results may be. If you live in the UK and want to talk things through, our nurses are always available on this free number 0808 800 4040 Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

Keeping eveything crossed for you. Let us know what you find out next Monday if you can.

    Best wishes,
