Large ovarian cysts damage to internal organs

Hello,

2 weeks ago a scan showed 2 large cysts on my right ovary , one 12 cm the other 8 cm and a more normal sized one on the left , 4 cm.
Since then they have grown as the clothes I wore then no longer fit. I look 9 months pregnant.
As my first appt for the 2 w referral is still 8 days away, I am worried about what damage these large cysts could be doing internally as I'm having a lot of pain in thigh/ back/ side as well as full ache and stabbing twinges.
Anyone been through or in similar position with thoughts on this would really help as I don't know whether to go to A & E.

Also, with the pandemic how quick is the process to get to surgery?

  • Sorry you are having a lot of pain. You could perhaps  try calling nurse helpline on here (think they are open now) or your own GP today to discuss best thing to do. GP will be able to help with pain relief and speed things up – for example, by GP getting another urgent ultrasound done in next couple of days. Phoning the nurse helpline will help you clarify your options perhaps. Hope things improve for you soon.

  • I had complex ovarian cysts removed last year following referral to gynaecology oncology l saw the gynaecologist then had a MRI and Transvaginal ultrasound on speaking to the gynaecologist again l had surgery 6 weeks later. l had left sided abdominal pain   Due to the extensive adhesions which took  41/2 hours to remove my recovery took a bit longer than expected, pleased to say the biopsies were benign.
my daughter had a ovarian cyst the size of a grapefruit 15cm removed while she was 15 weeks pregnant fortunately the baby was fine. She looked as if she was having twin's. She did stay in hospital for one night to check on the baby. He was born early at 32 weeks.
l hope you have an easier operation mine was to have been day surgery, l stayed in for 5days.

you could speak to the gynaecology secretary and ask if you can be seen sooner there may not be an earlier appointment available., The gynaecology nurses may be able to help or your surgery and doctor if you are in pain.

Hopefully your cysts will be treated soon.
