  • sweetpea2310; hello and welcome.  You have come to the right place.  I am sorry you have lost so many family members to cancer.  How much information do you have about your cancer at the moment and what treatment you can be offered?  I have not had cancer myself - I am here after caring for too many others who have - but there are ladies here who will understand what you are going through.  Tell us a bit more about yourself and your family.  I hope that you also have family and friends who will support you but at the same time I understand that you are numb and shocked at the moment.  Annie

  • Hi Sweetpea,

As Annieliz says you've come to the right place.

Really sorry about all the loss you've suffered, it's never easy to have that kind of loss but with genes there is the addition that it can feel like it looms over your whole being.  And sorry also about your diagnosis, especially so soon after finding out about the gene, which presumably was going to lead to discussions over preventative measures you could take.

When you say you've just found out have they 'staged' you yet or have you just had the shock of hearing the word?

I realise you will have family members that are probably all too well-versed in how to support you but even with my mum having been through breast cancer twice (and now me) I've found this forum invaluable.  There is something very helpful about talking to people who are going through it at the same time as you, or others that have been there and can give you useful tips.

So, again as Annieliz says, when you feel up to it let us know more about your diagnosis and what the plan is for your treatment.  Otherwise feel free to vent, rant, or whatever you feel you need to do.

    Sending you internet hugs!
