Is Noel talking sense, or being insensitive?

Is there such a thing as negative energy? Noel quotes "science" but negative energy in this context sounds more like a Tai Chi or Yoga expression.

  • Hi Dave

I saw this too, he replied to someone criticising his praise of some electro magnetic wonder Gizmo that cures illness and is even good for cancer. He replied to the critic "Scientific fact - disease is caused by negative energy. Is it possible your ill health is caused by your negative attitude"

I guess if Noel drank a pint of pig slurry his resulting illness would be from pathogenic bacteria not from negative energy. I would hazard a guess that regardless of the use of his wonder gizmo or his positive attitude that he would have dysentry.

In other words Noel is talking out of a hole in his **** but more importantly, given his celebrity stature, may sway people not to get treatment for cancer and rely on a totally worthless and ineffectual gadget in the beleif it will cure cancer.  as ever a true skeptic Kim

  • Now that would make for an interesting experiment!

I'd be happy to administer the pig slurry and challenge Noel to avoid dysentery by focussing his positive energy.

What patronising and contemptuous bullsh1t. A positive attitude might well help people avoid sliding into the depths of despondency which could lead to them refusing treatment which might help. The idea that negative energy could cause cancer is just another form of victim blaming!

A colleague on hearing of my diagnosis was genuinely shocked and said "but you don't smoke, you're not obese and you're fit!" As if his whole view on cancer until that moment was that it could be avoided by not smoking and having a health lifestyle! Yes, those things reduce the odds significantly, but they don't stop random mutations.

Taken too far, this emphasis on positivity develops almost a religious fervour. According to Noel and others like him, my Mum didn't die because her cancer mutated and became more aggressive, she died because she wasn't positive enough in her approach!

Before this week, I viewed Edmunds as a harmless idiot who made his fortune dumbing down entertainment and patronising the public whose licence fees made him rich. Now I think he is a dangerous and deluded idiot.

    Sorry for the rant!
