Is it safe to colour your hair while on chemo

Hi,  my hair has grown since I stopped the harsh chemo three months ago and am now on a less harsh maintenance chemo every three weeks. It is my daughter’s wedding in June and I don’t like the grey hair is it safe to colour it blonde, and any recommendations on non bleach and paraben free products.

Many thanks.

  • Hello Mary.M,

First of all, congratulations on your daughter's forthcoming wedding you must be very excited. Have you already planned what you are going to wear too? I thought I would share this link with you from our website on using hair dye after chemotherapy . As suggested on this page, do speak to your hairdresser about the best options available to you and the best ways to look after your hair after chemotherapy treatment, for example the best types of  non bleach and paraben free products available. You might wish to take a look too at our Cancer Care range of hair products  such as paraben free shampoos which have been carefully selected for hair that has been affected by radiotherapy or chemotherapy treatment.

I hope you will also get some good recommendations from our members who have also had to think about how chemotherapy affected their hair dye options and hopefully they will be along to share their tips with you.

Whatever hairstyle or hair colour you end up having, I am sure you will look fabulous and that you will have a wonderful time on your daughter's special day.

    Best wishes,
