I’m just very confused. I’m 18 years old and have been experiencing excruciating pain in my stomach, I have thrown up blood many times, coughed up blood and have blood in my stools. I was sent to A&E by my GP the other day due to the coughing up blood and severe pain in my stomach after many medications I am still in a lot of pain and returned to the GP who put me on an urgent referral to see an upper GI team. My appointment was given today for next week. It’s not until I walked away from the appointment that the term “urgent referral” got me thinking. Is an urgent referral always for suspected cancer ?
