I would like some information

I have been diagnosed with anal cancer is there anyone on the forum like me?

  • Hello Bumblebee,

Welcome to the forum although I'm sorry to hear about the reason that brings you here.

I've had a look through the posts on the forum here and we have two users who have posted in the last few months about anal cancer: [@MaryMc]‍ and [@Casuaone]‍ If you use the search forum button at the top of the page here you'll be able to find their posts and they may receive a notification if you decide to get in touch with either of them.

We do have some information on our website about Anal cancer which may help with some questions you might have. We also have a team of nurses here that you can call to talk to if you think that might be of help. They are available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040 (free to call in the UK).

Keep in touch Bumblebee. There are many active forum users here at Cancer Chat and although many of them will have a different diagnosis to you, there are lots of shared common experiences, thoughts and feelings amongst them and I'm sure they will be able to offer you some support through your journey.

    Best wishes,

  • Hello bumblebee1

i was diagnosed with T2 anal cancer in Aug 2017 it seems there are not a lot of us that get this type. I have completed a 6 week course of chemoradiotherapy I finished two weeks ago - I have to say the last two weeks have been tough with the pain and not sleeping however I seemed to have now turned a corner as my bott is a lot better altho I am still very very tired.

For me this is s strange time as after having been at the hospital every day for 6 weeks I now feel a bit isolated and not sure what to expect next - I think I've to get my follow up apt in about six weeks weeks it's just the waiting  now that is hard. I've had the district nurse in who was really lovely but doesn't really know much about the after effects of the treatment I'm thinking I'll contact the Beatson tomorrow and the nurse I had there justvtobtry a bit of reassurance.

have you started your treatment yet I hope you are doing ok and if there is anything you want to ask please get in touch as I didn't really have anyone who had been through it yo rely to.

    kind regards Sandra
