Hi there

I was told late last year I had DCIS and had a mastectomy 5 weeks ago without reconstruction. I don’t need any further treatment and feel just fine. I’m to be off work for another while (primary music teacher).

I was never offered a mastectomy,  getting results of last weeks operation this afternoon.

Hello Sheila,

We are just home. I have to go back into hospital for another surgery on Monday.  Not what we were expecting but I have a great team around me and hopefully this will be the last time.  Keeping positive.

My diagnosis was a year ago. DCIS high grade with lumpectomy and radiotherapy. Now I'm cured.

I never lost sight of the fact that DCIS is totally contained in the milk duct, is non invasive, not life threatening and totally treatable.

Thanks to our wonderful NHS and because of the fantastic advancements in technology problems are being detected much earlier and more women are being cured of this awful disease.

Glad to hear you’re getting prompt treatment. Don’t go back to school until you’re absolutely tip top as folk will think you’re fine and there are no ‘light’ duties in a school!
