Hospital in the Wrong?

I'm just after a bit of advice, or to get other peoples opinions as I'm a little upset with how my dad is being treated in hospital.

He was taken to A&E Saturday morning with excruciating pain down his left hand side. They have admitted him and have done xrays and said he has a collapsed lung. He is due to have a bronchoscopy as they think it may be lung cancer.

They left him in a side room for hours and he got desperate for the toilet. He went by himself and managed to fall over on the way back to bed.

They didn't tell me this until the following day, and even then said it wasn't serious. This doesnt seem right though as he is in agony with it. He can barely move without crying out in pain.

They sent him for another xray but rather than send him in his bed, they made him get into a wheelchair. I had to stand there watching him writhing around in agony.

Is that normal, or should they have allowed him to go in his bed?

Also, should I ask for an investigation into how and why he fell over?

Sorry for all the questions, it was just so awful to watch my dad in so much pain knowing that some of it could have been prevented.
