Hormone therapy meds that are safe for kidney transplant?

Hi. I've recently had a lumpectomy and lymph node removal following breast cancer diagnosis. I was told after surgery that the likely treatment would be radiation and medication for 10 years, as oestrogen positive. I also have had a kidney transplant 3 years ago, and was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience, and how their cancer treatment affected their kidney health? And what hormone treatment they were prescribed?

  • Hello Beespatellas

I'm sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis. I hope that you've recovered well from the surgery. Do make sure you follow the exercise guidance as it certainly helps!

I can't see that we've any members here on the forum who have had a kidney, or another organ, transplant and have then gone through treatment for oestrogen positive breast cancer. Hopefully, if there is anyone who has any insights they'd like to share they'll post a reply.

I don't know if you've already reached out to them but it may be worth contacting the Kidney Care UK forum to see if any members there have been through the same.

If you'd like to chat with one of our nurses you're most welcome to give them a call. They're available Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,
