Home help?

My husband who looks after me also has serious health problems. He will need a lung transplant sometime in the future. He has a rare lung condition & cold which means he can become ill with chest breathing problems very quickly. Most of the time he's healthy but I would still like to get him some help at home without asking either of our parents who are all in their70's. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks

  • Hi Katherine, and a very warm welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear that both you and your husband have serious health problems. I understand why you might not want to ask your parents, and that you're looking into independent home help options.

I've had a look on our site and found information on Help at home, which I'm hoping might help as a starting point. This article talks about Macmillan and Marie Curie nurses, and other groups - such as social services - who can help on a practical level.

There may well be other members of the forum who've used home help services, and hopefully they'll be along soon to share their experiences. Till then, do continue to use the forum and join in with discussions if you'd like to. We're here to listen.

    Best wishes,

    Helen
