Histiocytic sarcoma

Hi everyone, my name is Louise. My dear husband died in 2016 with very aggressive histiocytic sarcoma (and NHL but that wasn’t such a concern). There have been very few documented cases of this sarcoma and I would be happy to share my husband’s journey with anyone else who has been diagnosed or is caring for someone who has been diagnosed.

  • Hello Louise.  I had never heard of histiocytic sarcoma and if I am honest when I looked it up I didn't understand the (very meagre) information either.  I am just saying hello and how kind it is of you to want to help others after your own tragic loss.  I cannot find any other references to histiocytic sarcoma on the forum other than the lady with whom you have already had communication but if someone does come along they will be able to pick up your post by looking it up in the same place as I looked.

  • Hi Louise my name is Martin. I was diagnosed in May 2017 with NHL and went through a cycle of Chemo followed by radiotherapy . I had PET scan in December which showed that the tumour was probably still there. I have just had an excision biopsy and saw my specialsit this week . Apparently I have a histocytic sarcoma under my right arm. She is making enquiries about where to go from here. I can not pick up much info online as it seems to be very rare. Please could you help. ? Thank you for posting online . it is very brave of you
  • Hi Martin

I’ve just sent you a friend request (I hope I’ve done it properly) so that I can send you details of my husband’s hospital, etc outside of the forum.

  • Hi Louise

I received a notificatioin email, but not a friend request.  I only signed up to the forum yesterday

so I am not familiar with how it works. Perhaps it is worth trying again?

I look forward to hearing from you

  • Hi Martin2 and [@Louise_B62]‍

I just wanted to share some information we have on the forum about private messaging as well as how to add friends to be able to use this function. Just click on the highlighted words to find out more.

I hope this makes things easier and you're able to connect with each other soon :)

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Martin

I’ve signed in and my profile is showing that I’ve sent you a friend request. It won’t let me re-send the request, unfortunately. If you sign in and still can’t see the friend request, post here and we’ll have to ask the moderators for their help.

  • Hi Louise, I'm very sorry to hear about your husband and it's very gracious of you to share the journey.

My wife was just diagnosed with histiocytic sarcoma after having her tumor in the brain fully (apparently) removed. We are awaiting the full pathology reports and to see who we will be referred to next.

Our consultant surgeon is excellent but his job is done and due to the rarity of the diagnosis its very difficult to find the right specialist or be sure we are referred to the right specialist.

I know the prognosis is poor generally but we are still learning a lot about this. Please let me know how I could get in touch as I want to give her the best chance.

  • Hi Karan

I’ve just sent you a friend request so that I can send you the details of where my husband was treated. He was treated by a team of haematologists rather than oncologists. I live in Australia so my responses will be out of sync with UK.

With best wishes to you and your wife

    Louise
