The sudden appearance of a red lump is quite likely to be due to some infection, cyst, pimple or blocked pore; however, given its location, your apprehension is completely understandable.
Given that it's now a long weekend and your usual GP surgery is probably closed until Tuesday, I think it would be appropriate to phone 111. With any luck you'll be able to see (or discuss your symptoms on the phone) with a doctor, who will advise you what to do next and maybe set your mind at rest.
