Hey, just wanted to introduce myself and read others stories.
I am currently going through treatment for rectal cancer. I was symptom free and oblivious and thankfully due to our fantastic screening prog starting at 50 it was picked up. Originally i was told it was just the op I needed but as tests and scans came back i ended up having five sessions of radiotherapy , the op with an ileostomy (reversible hopefully) and now chemo. The chemo was delayed for a few weeks as it was thought my cancer had spread but thankfully a pet scan showed that not to be the case.
Started Oxaliplatin and Capecitabine and apart from the pains in my hands im doing really well, only day two so not counting my chickens just my blessings!
Feel like ive hit every hurdle on the way but the light is at the end of the tunnel - distant but its there!!
I previously had breast cancer in my 30s around 16years ago. Life just has to go in with a smile as you can. My motto is "Just keep swimming"
