HER2 what do the test results mean.

I am having a mastectomy on Monday, found during a recent mammagram. I have opted for a mastectomy as I had a pacemaker/defibrillator fitted in September. Am hoping I will not then need radiotherapy.

I am still waiting for results of HER2 and have been told may not be back until after my operation, As first results were borderline.

what does the HER2 test mean, I have Grade 2 invasive ductal carcinoma

I have had such a rotten year with heart failure, I seem very calm about my cancer diagnosis no tears nothing. I am sure they will all come before or after my operation.

Hi I too have grade 2 ductal carcinoma. And my HER2 status was borderline for a while ended up being negative.
HER2 is I think something to do with a protein which is present on the cancer making it easier to grow and mutate.

Hi Anna
Sorry you are waiting so long for treatment to start, I have just read your previous posts. I was given my diagnosis on 19th November. I have not read the nice guidelines. Did you choose to have a lumpectomy?
