Help going insane!!

hi everyone , 4 weeks ago my husband was feeling really ill, lost so much weight, his colour drained and drenching night sweats . He went to the doctor where his blood tests came back worrying , we were sent to the hospital where a ct scan was done . The radiologist got us in a room and said he's sorry it's cancer! ......our world ended, he's 35 and we have a young family . He then said there are cells in the liver and he's 90% sure it's a kind of lymphona .  We then went for a biopsy on my husbands cells in his liver , they came back negative!!  Hey did say maybe the cancer ones were missed . My husband has had tumour markers done which have all come back normal, his 'cancer' symtons have all subsided , no more sweats and he's Gained half a stone in two weeks . We have now had an MRI to see if this shows a primary cancer or cells still in the liver or possibly clear , we are going crazy!! Has anybody else gone through this torture , what the hell kind of cancer could it possibly be? They said there's a small chance it could be an inflammatory response but surely the doctor wouldn't of told us cancer if there was doubt ??!

  • Hello Firstly they shouldn't of told u it WAS cancer until fully reported on. Have you had the results back from your MRI and also are they doing a PET-CT scan too? Just chase things up constantly. That's what we've had to do with everything
  • We had a ct scan and then the doctor said straite away it's cancer , there are cells in your liver and that he's 90% sure it's a lymphona . We were then transferred to oncology , they did a biopsy which came back negative (they did say maybe they missed some cells) and tumour markers which came back negative , we had an MRI yesterday and now waiting on them results

  • Aww same situation here. My boys are only 9 and 8 years old. And my fellas situation has gone from "atypical cells" to stage 4 terminal stomach cancer in a matter of months

    take care xxx

  • Oh bless you all, it must be so hard for you ,I'm just so confused , I want to think really positive and think maybe this is one big balls up , but I know the chances are slim :(  he just is so well in himself I find it hard to believe he's got this horrible thing in him , did it take a while to diagnose your husband? X xxx

  • Hiya We went gps in October last year cos had trouble swallowing and lost loads of weight. Unfortunately he was misdiagnosed and therefore the cancers had time to grow hence why I pray u push for answers xx
  • Oh gosh!!! Yes I will , we will see what this MRI says , tthey said if the cells are still present they are going back in using  a ct guided biopsy so they can gaurentee they get some , hopefully that will tell us what we are dealing with if the MRI doesn't . Is your husband now in treatment xx

  • Sorry to hear this. I had an ultrasound of the liver about 6 weeks ago. Radiologist reported back to GP that she was 90% sure she could see mets throughout. MRI showed it was something else entirely, benign. I feel incredibly lucky (though it looks likely I do have cancer, just not in the liver). If you possibly can, try and distract yourselves, and try not to second guess the test results. It's very hard: but ultimately the doctors don't know yet, either.
  • Thank you Belinda , this is what everyone keeps telling me , I'm driving my self mad trying to diagnose him myself , just googling everything which usually always comes up with the worst case scenario , I've just got to get through this weekend and by next we will hopefully know more and I can post back with what is atually happening in there xxx

  • Hi Ali,

May I ask does your husband have any lumps in his neck or under his armpits ect...? This is the most common sign of lymphoma as it's a swelling in the lymph nodes of the body although this can also swell due to infection...

  • The doctor that did the ct said he felt an enlarged lymph node under my husbands armpit , although so with that and the ct showing cells in the liver and my husbands symtons at the time , weight loss , drenching night sweats , shortness of breath he had thought lymphona . Although the symtons have now subsided :/ and he's gained weight back , is that normal , do they come and go ?
