HELP! Advice on smear test

Hi, I'm 20 years of age. I am currently on a contraceptive patch! Have been on other contraceptions but have been moved to the patch to try and sort out my bleeding. Any how since being on the patch I'm constantly bleeding (just like on the other contraceptions) I probably have about a week out of the month that I don't bleed it's very heavy periods with a lot of pain.
I am uncomfortable when having sexual intercourse it feels as if I have a wall that I can't get past. I have children and since having my youngest this has all got worse . I have had STi swabs wich come back all normal and had a ultrasound last week wich come back normal. Ive begged my doctor for a smear test to rule everything out but there refusing as I'm not 25 yet. Would I be best Saving for a private smear test? Or has this happened to people before and been completely normal

Thankyou for reading

  • Hello ellx1

I'm sorry to hear about your on going health concerns. It sounds positive that your recent swabs and ultrasound haven't raised any areas for concern.

When changing contraceptives it can sometimes take a while for things to settle but if your situation continues then I wonder if your GP might conisder referring you to a gynaecologist for further investigations. Alternatively you could speak with another GP in the practice for a second opinion.
I do hope that things improve soon.

    Best wishes,
