Help

My sisters husband has be diagnosed with cancer and he has had to go on the sick with his job. My sister is a stay at home wife. Because sick pay is not much they have to apply for universal credit. They have told my sister she needs to look for a job but my sister takes him to all of his appointment. Can they make her do this?

  • Hello sorry to hear about your situation.

Unfortunately as your sister is for for work then they will be able to request that she find a job. However there are extra benefits to apply for to cover transport costs to and from hospital and things, personal independence payments (pip) and other benefits so it's worth looking online!

Either that or your sister might need to apply for carers allowanxe instead?

Sorry I can't be of more assistance

  • Hey soooo what you can do is your sister can become her husbands carer. I have to warn you the whole process for disability is shocking. It took me 18months of UC before I was awarded disability then when I got cancer and had ops etc and my health deteriorated I phoned Pip to explain they decided a new assessment and she decides I was fit for work so at the worst possible time I fought it once and didn't fight again.

Remember one thing they are paid 40 pound per person they refuse, 240000 people have died withing 2 weeks of being declared fit for work. Tell your sister to fight it hard!! She wil have more strength!

Although she may want to work a part ime job just to have ME time xxx
