Help

Hi

I had a small green/brown spot on my chin last week (didn't think much of it as I'm very freckly). I have noticed the last few data it's turned black?? Not sure whether to get it checked out?

  • Hi,

It may be nothing but I suggest you take a photo of it today & then ring your GP on Monday for it to be checked out. Most GPs are doing telephone consultations and they ask for a photo to be emailed to them in these circumstances. They then decide, from the photo, if it needs further examination. They then either send the photo to Dermatology who will check it & decide if they need to see you or your GP will refer you to Dermatology. This is because Dermatologists are the experts & can decide if it needs removing for biopsy.

Hopefully your GP will think it's nothing to worry about & they may ask you to monitor it over the next few weeks for any changes. If so, keep a weekly photographic record of it - it's easier to see any changes that way.

Good luck and please let us know how you get on,

    Angie (melanoma patient)
