Hello! Still waiting for appointments

Hi new to all this.

Went to gp re swelling on front of leg, last Thursday next thing I know have 2 week urgent referral. Went for X-ray, chest n leg, blood test, same day.

Had letter Saturday to ring hospital Monday did that, rang gp for blood results, receptionist said blood came back with signal for diabetes plus some signalling cancer//abnormalities

Now just have to wait for referral letter with appointment, consultant has to look at xrays first.

Haven't told anyone yet, no point worrying them till I know what's what and how bad, have ct scans done etc. 66 years old so kids adults.

Leg hurts a bit but don't feel I'll really, thought I had damaged a muscle at gym

How do you cope with the waiting & knowing it's bad news coming ?

  • Hi there ...

Think that receptionist could be in a lot of trouble there .. giving out results ... I've never heard of a receptionist doing that ... I'd deff inform your g.p or hospital Dr...

So hold on till you see the Dr/ oncologist... and tell them what the receptionist told you .. if only to stop her doing that with other patients ... Chrissie x

  • Have to say I was surprised but she did sound young. Surgery gone on "only appointments already made" mode today (coronavirus) so perhaps under pressure.

Still not good news either way.

    thank you for reply x

  • Well gp surgery didn't phone as promised re diabetes that showed up in blood test. Nurse was supposed to ring for chat.
Still waiting for call/letter from hospital /consultant appointment. Even more concerned now after gpreceptionist told me they'd found abnormalities re cancer, and now no phone call! Will be a wreck in a few days Patience not my strong point at mo.
