Headaches post radiotherapy

Hi all. Hope you're doing well?

im 6 weeks post completing my radio therapy now. I started to get headaches about 3 weeks ago. Has anyone experienced this so late after treatment? They do require pain killers and unwanted to know if anyone else had experienced this too as I've been without headache since my surgery in April.

thanks in advance x

  • Hello jessicaag,

Well done for completing your radiotherapy. I hope that the treatment went well for you! I am not sure whether your headaches would be related to radiotherapy and if you already suffered from headaches before. It might be worth asking your GP or medical team what they think and if it's a side effect of treatment or not. It could be you are suffering from migraines for example so it's important to talk to a GP about your recurrent headaches and they will be in the best position to give you a diagnosis and tell you whether it was triggered by radiotherapy or if it's totally unrelated.

Our nurses are also available on this free number 0808 800 4040 if you would like to talk to them about this. Their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I hope that your headaches improve and that the painkillers work at relieving them. Other members may have been affected by headaches too before and I hope that they will have some advice for you and suggestions based on their personal stories.

    Best wishes,
