Have just been diagnosed with stomach cancer that is spread

Hi All, I am 36 years old guy and have just been diagnosed with gastric cancer. The doctor said it has spread therefore I will have to undergo chemotherapy, surgery is not an option. I believe the cancer is advanced which is really scary and makes me wonder what life expectancy I have. Tomorrow I will have an appointment with oncologist who will provide me with more information and next steps. If anyone has a similar cancer I would love to hear from you, any advise would be appreciated.

  • Hi VytasP,

I am really sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I do not have a similar cancer but I wanted you to know that I am thinking of you. I hope that you had a beneficial meeting with your oncologist today.

Sending virtual hugs your way. X

  • Good evening my fella whose 43 was diagnosed with stomach cancer in march this year. Inoperable and having palliative chemo. Has had 3 cycles so far out of the 6 and he's doing really well. No sickness. Just very tired. Please feel free to message us. We currently waiting of CT scan to see how chemo is going but we know it's going well, because he can now eat after struggling for 6 months xx
  • Hi Gemini23,

I am delighted to hear that your 'fella' is now able to eat after struggling for so long -  I pray that this will continue! It really is all hard going. How are you? X

  • Hi. I am very sorry to hear that someone as young as you has cancer. I did not have gastric cancer but I do know that there is targeted treatments available which might be effective in treating your cancer. Be sure to ask your oncologist what treatments are available. Some are very good and can be very effective in controlling spread. I hope you will be able to take advantage of targeted treatments. Take care and kindest regards. WA
