Has anyone gone through a bone marrow transplant?

Hello. On Wednesday my wife will be admitted to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital for a bone marrow transplant. She will be hospitalized for 3 to 4 weeks. 100 days post transplant is most important time as new marrow grows. She will have MANY restrictions during this time. Infection and graft vs. host disease is most serious threat. She is 53 and was diagnosed with t cell ALL leukemia and has been treated for it since May of 2017. She is now in complete remission. I am so worried as to how she'll do following the transplant. Doctors say this is best chance for a cure. (still no guarantees) I, her 60 year old husband is worried sick. Anyone who has gone through this please encourage me Thank you.

  • Hello garrisonjj,

As I noticed you mentioned your wife is going to be admitted to the hospital today for a bone marrow transplant I just wanted to stop by and wish her good luck.

Hopefully some of our members who have gone through a similar experience will be along shortly to share their stories with you and give advice but until then I thought I might leave you with some information we have on our website about bone marrow transplant for ALL .

    I hope this helps.

Once you have a minute come back and give us an update on how things are going.

We're keeping our fingers crossed for your wife.

    Warm wishes to you both,
