Hard painless armpit lump

Hey,

has anyone ever had a large painless lump inside their armpit? You can’t see it from the outside but when you feel under the armpit you can really feel it inside.

i had a pet/ct on Tuesday as they are scanning me for lymphoma. Have to wait till my follow up apppointment for the results.

I’ve had lots of other symptoms that are cause for concern too (red dots on the roof of my mouth for 4 months, a cough for bearing on 5 months, itchy skin, occasional night sweats etc)

i just wanna know if anyone has experienced a hard big ish lump (I’d say the size of a marble but maybe a bit smaller, definitely bigger than pea sized tho) that doesn’t hurt at all, been there for at least 3 weeks now (I hadn’t noticed it until hematologist pointed it at my initial appointment) and what it was. I’m expecting the diagnosis and tbh I don’t really feel any sorts of emotion at the moment.

Just wanting to know if anyone else has had one and what theirs turned out to be. X

  • Hi!

I have one too! A hard, painless lump in my armpit I mean. No other symptoms that I can think of at all. Had it for roughly 7+ weeks and panicking!

Been to the doctor a couple of times, was misdiagnosed initially and given anti biotics, which obviously didn’t touch it, because it’s not superficial. Been again twice, bloods taken, all results fine. Now I’ve been referred to the hospital (urgent referral, never sounds good!).

Just waaaaaiiiting to hear back about an appointment for ultrasound and potential biopsy now. Waiting for this sort of thing sucks.

When’s your next appointment? Hope it goes well. X

  • I didn’t even know I had my lump there so it could of been there longer I’m not sure...

i originally was suspected to have Leukemia but my blood counts came back ‘normal’ meaning Leukemia was ruled out, but I was still referred to hematologist cuz of the many symptoms I’ve had. I went to the hematologist apppointment on 25th May and she felt my lymph nodes, didn’t say anything to me just went straight to her computer and told me she was referring me for a pet/ct scan as she wants to check for lymphoma. I then received a letter through the post that had also been sent to my gp, and it was her report saying she felt palpable axillary nodes bilaterally. I obviously googled what that meant as I had no clue and realised it meant armpits so I then felt them myself, I couldn’t feel anything on the left side but on the right side I could, and it’s been consistently there since, it has grown but not drastically, you can only feel it you can’t see it.

The last few months (symptoms started beginning of April prompting me to visit the doc which i never do I always get anxiety that il be called a drama queen lol) have been a bit of a blur, But I’ve not been given any antibiotics or anything like that since all of this stuff started (originally I was so badly itchy that I had bruising and blood spots all over my body) ... I’ve read the most common cause for the red dots in my mouth is strep throat but they don’t seem to think it’s that...

i definitely feel like they know something is wrong otherwise surely they would of tried to rule out infections etc at first. I had bloods and urine test back in April, bloods came back normal and urine had protein in... the hematologist then ordered more bloods in May (8 vials they took) and referred me for the pet/ct... my follow up appointment is on 27th June, so it’s just the waiting that is the worst part.

Sorry for the long message! It’s just nice to have someone to talk to xx

  • Same here! Can only feel the lump, can’t really see anything.

Saw your other posts, sounds like you’re having a very rough time atm. Really hope things get better for you.

If you’re anything like me, as soon as you think something might be up you read into everything else. Like every little feeling in your body is amplified. Don’t know if I’m explaining it right, guess I just mean it’s really hard to distract yourself from thinking about it all the time.

Write messages as long as you like! So important to talk about it. We should make a pact to actually follow up on this and post outcomes.. so many of these posts run dry before any sort of diagnosis is actually discussed! Might help others. Particularly when it comes to hard armpit lumps. I’ve been down a rabbit hole trying to figure out something that it can be, which isn’t actually serious! Please let there be another reason for it!

Bodies are mad. Stay strong. Xx

  • Exactly like that! Soon as there’s another ‘symptom’ that maybe I wouldn’t of even noticed before, I’m even more convinced something is wrong. It’s definitely all the waiting which is the worst, which I have seen many many people say on here.

And yes I totally agree we should definitely do that! I have scanned this forum and some things you see can be similar to what you’ve experienced but there’s no follow up/outcome to the post, which can be frustrating!

Ive been searching and searching too, but armpit lumps especially painless ones all seem to point towards something more sinister rather than a ‘simple’ infections that’s treated with antibiotics or whatever.

Have you received your appointment yet? Xx

  • No appointment yet! Just waiting... and waiting.. days feel longer then don’t they? I’m trying to put it to the back of my mind and focus on work deadlines, but then I get a dull ache in my arm where it must be pressing on nerves and then it’s all I can think about again!

Bloody bodies! I’ve also scanned the forum and really can’t find any post where anyone’s described a hard painless lump and said results were clear!

Let’s hope we can be the first! If it’s nothing I am writing that on here!

Hope your day’s been okay and that you’ve been able to keep your mind off it. X
