Hard, painful lump in throat

I'm not really sure if this is the right forum for me, I apologise  if it isn't.  For a long time now I have what I presume is a gland in the right safe of my neck that gets hard, like a marble,  and painful. The pain radiates  out and up behind my ear. It's difficult to get my GP to see this as it comes and goes. I did mention it to her when I was there for another reason, but it wasn't paining at the time and she could feel nothing so kind of dismissed it. She needs to see it's there, but that's almost impossible due to the long wait for appointments. Any advice would be very welcome, as it's worrying me. 26 years ago I was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism  and have wondered if it could be  nodule on my thyroid gland, as if it was cancerous  I would think other symptoms would have accrued by now. • Welcome to the forum Marypetlady.

I'm sorry about the symptoms you're experiencing at the moment. Only your doctor can say what this might be so do persevere. Maybe you could take photos to show your doctor or if you have more than one doctor at your GP surgery maybe you could try seeing them to get a second opinion?

I hope you're able to get this resolved and get some peace of mind over this soon Mary.

    Kind regards,
