Hard lump on side of throat

Hello this is my first time using this forum but I'm going crazy thinking about this hard lump I have and why I can't find answers.

started on Christmas 2019 I noticed a hard pea sized lump on the left side of my throat feels attached to the throat itself above the thyroid more like the laryngeal area and it's small but really hard and slightly moveable I think , I don't think it's grown at all and I don't have any other symptoms like hoarseness or a sore throat it's just a hard lump connected to my throat under the skin and directly attached to the throat and I have no clue what to think of it , I thought it's throat cancer but I'm 18 surely I'm too young for that plus I don't smoke and no close relatives have had it , what could it be? Thanks sorry Im really anxious and have spoke to my gp about it before but they shove it off and don't really think much of it even know I know they haven't had a good feel of it they just check my lymph nodes and not where you specifically say but anyway any help?

thanks

  • Hi Obeli, I'm wondering how you are and if anything happened after your post above 3 years ago now!. I've only just seen this forum and have similar concerns to you with a very hard pea-like lump inside the soft tissue of the throat on the side below the tonsil (not above like yours). Seen GP & about to see dentist then will be referred to ENT specialist if no answer. I also feel concerned and only found it a couple of weeks ago & was alarmed finding it, feels so big and hard & inside & well developed.

Anyway, hope you are better and would really like to know what yours was & what happened!

    Thank you.

  • Hello,

Apologies for the late reply I never thought anyone would reply to this forum.

I still have the lump , but nothing has changed at all over the past 3 years, so I believe it was just a lymph node/ a cysts potentially that I felt and it's just remained in this state, so I am no longer worried about it.

Sorry that I can't help much on your issue as I didn't go any further than the gp , I hope everything works out okay with you and I wish you all the best

    kind regards

  • Thanks so much for your reply. That's great to hear! Hope all continues to go well for you.

Thanks for taking the trouble to answer.
