Hi there,

I have been to the breast clinic with lumps in both breasts whilst breastfeeding. I was convinced it's cancer as they didn't match any info I found on cysts or benign changes. 

They examined me and did ultrasound and these lumps turned out to be glandural changes. Apparently it takes up to 6 months for breasts to go back to normal after stopping breastfeeding.

The wait for the appointment was a torture but I found phoning Breastcancer.co.uk helpline very reasurring.

I hope you get your appointment soon and the lump turns out to be harmless.

Thanks so much for replying. I’m so glad all was ok with you. Can I ask, did you have any pain in your breast as well as the lumps? I did have mastitis but that was several weeks ok and fully weaned now.

No pain in the breasts (I heard pain is a good sign) but an occasional shooting sensation from breast to my armpit.

I would suggest taking someone with you as it can be an overwhelming experience.

Hey - I had this too after breastfeedingand put it off for months - I was diagnosed with breast cancer end of feb- I am in no way trying to alarm you but it’s always best to get things checked regardless of what you think it might be 

I apologised to the nurse when I was getting checked as I genuinely thought I was wasting  her time 

most cases it’s nothing but always just get something that isn’t normal for you chevked

I had my appointment today. They did an ultrasound and weren’t happy with the look of my lump so they did a biopsy. Doc said my lump has uneven edges which they don’t like the look of. 

Im so scared. Got another appointment on Tuesday to find out my results.

i happened to run past your post as I also had the same thing. Grape sized Hard lump under nipple in one of my breasts discovered during breastfeeding. I stopped breastfeeding 2 months ago.  

Turned out to be milk glands over secreting still and were aspirated.

I am sure yours will also turn out to be nothing. 

it has now now happened In my other breast.

i had a biopsy and it turned out to be fine. It was chronic inflammation due to the mastitus. The lump is still there months later.
