Hard, immovable lymph node behind ear

Hello all

I have been watching a hard immovable lymph node (post auricular/behind ear) since Feburary.

I have only recently just been to see doctor and have been referred urgently. Dr has really worried me, as I have left this hard node for 5 months, thinking it might go away or shrink; now he seems to think it is something suspicious as I have a simiar supraclavicular node the same from 3 years ago. I was told to watch that one.

It is under 1cm (maybe 8mm), hard, immoveable (its up against skull/boney bits), I thnk it may have enlarged very slightly. The area aches a bit from time to time, though I do occasionally have a prod. I have tried to research, but only scray stuff comes up.

Can lymph nodes stay up for this long and it be 'nothing'? Are hard, immoveable nodes always cancer related?

Thank you if anyone has any similar experience, and what happened. Trying not to panic :-(

I didnt sleep last night, trying not to panic.
