I also have been given an urgent referral , I have a large 2cm fixed hard lump under my jaw ... also been having night sweats which is worrying (hope it's just the weather) ... I've been told the lymph nodes can swell for no obvious reason, maybe silently fighting some underlying infection that hasn't shown any symptoms.

So sorry to hear. I truly hope its nothing. It is worrying though isnt it. May I ask how long your 2cm lump has been there? Have you felt it grow? 

I have had some night sweats, but do think its from being too hope... at least, I hope it is.

Hi I was wondering if you had heard anything back. my four year old has a hard lump on her mastoid bone it’s a gland and I’m so concerned. We are trying to get an ultrasound as she has no illness.

I can sympathise. I have two lumps. One behind my left ear and one in the centre area of the back of my head.

I have no obvious signs of infection. Both have been there for weeks now. I can't say when they have started for sure but it's a month at least. The one behind my ear feels hard and it's quite large. My partner says he can see the area is swollen. No pain. 

The other one is smaller and softer but still solid.It also gives me a bit of discomfort if I press down on it hard. Both don't move. 

Thinking I should see my GP. I think these lumps are more likely to be non cancer-related than cancerous but you never know.

Update; had an ultrasound on the lump. It is definately a lymph node. The technician doing it said she is 99% sure its nothing... that help put my mind at rest, though it still bugs me that its there.

No, that was my diagnosis I believe... technician said she thought it was probably fine, and I was sent on my way!

Do you still have it there? Curious to know if they can appear hard and small and be harmless. I have one behind my left ear, with my nail is feels very small, almost like a hard piece of vein

Hi, just wondering if you ever went to GP as I have the exact same thing, a large hard lump (like a smal ball) behind my right ear and then a smaller one growing on the back of my head neither move and hurt to press. I've also noticed some hair loss/hair thinning, not sure if that's something you noticed as well?!

I don't think they're any serious but curious as mine have been there for over a year.
