GP not supporting a claim

My husband's GP is refusing to complete a claims form to get a refund for the holiday we could not go on because my husband was diagnosed with bowel cancer, had radiotherapy, then major surgery to remove the cancer leaving him with a colostomy. The hospital filled in a form explaining that he could not fly but the insurance want a form from the GP too. The GP has said no but has accepted £35 to write a letter to us explaining that they can't fill out the form. It makes no sense. Any advice? Without the GP support we will lose £3000 and at a really difficult time. I cant understand it.

  • Hi Paws56,

This sounds like a difficult situation and no doubt it must be frustrating. Perhaps there is another doctor you could speak to, for a second opinion on this, and who may be able to complete the form in lieu of your regular doctor?

It may be worth speaking to an organisation such as Macmillan, who are used to advising on these matters. You could hopefully get an idea of any potential next steps from them.

All the best and I hope you're able to get this sorted soon,
