Good news report for a change

I'm very pleased with the news (on BBC News channel) about the report that has recommended changes in cancer investigations. Patients are to be told results of investigations within 4 weeks. The recommendations could help an extra 30,000 people survive for 10 years. The improvements would be implemented by 2020.

The chair of the report committee is Harpal Kumar who is Chief Executive of CR UK so perhaps details will be put up on this site.  Perhaps the moderators know of a link.  I found details on the BBC website /cancer.

Ok so the improvements will take some time & its a small step, but it's a better report than many we get about 'miracle cures' available sometime somewhere.

  • Yes, I heard this on the news too. Any positive changes to help the waiting for results periods must be welcome.Jules

  • Hello eciguser,

What a good idea to start a thread on this! Thanks a lot for sharing this with us.

Our forum manager, Sarah, has posted more information here. We hope you will enjoy finding out more about the Taskforce report.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you for the links.  I followed them, read with interest & recommend them.  There;s more to the project than was reported.  I was particularly interested in the preventative strategy & the hope to reduce the prevelance of smoking to 13% by 2020. I am now an ex-smoker & zealous advocate of e-cigarettes .Doctors can't recommend them but I wish something could be done to promote their use. The NHS does provide nicotine products in smoking cessation clinics but ought to hand out e-cigs to hopeless cases -, they work!
