Going bald - scalp care

17 Oct 2017 20:08

Hello, I wonder if anyone can offer advice. My lovely husband’s hair has started to fall out as a result of chemo and he has taken the decision to get his head shaved tomorrow. He has had a problem with psoriasis in the past and uses medicated shampoo. What steps should I take to  ensure he maintains a healthy scalp for the duration? Thanks everyone.

Hi SusanRuth,

I'm sorry to hear your husband's hair has started to fall out due to the chemo. How did he get on with getting his head shaved the other day? I hope it went well and he is happy with how it has turned out.

Have either of you been able to mention the problem he had with psoriasis in the past to his medical team? If not, do make sure you do as they will be in the best position to give you information and advice regarding this but do give our cancer nurses a call as well as they may be able to help too. Their freephone number is 0808 800 4040 and are available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Best wishes to you both,
