Fragile Tissue?

I had cervical cancer. I am five years out from treatment; have had clear CT scans and pap smears.  I recently had a yeast infection and noticed blood when using a dilator. I got medication for the infection and it cleared up but I am still seeing blood when using the dilator. Doctor doesn't seem too worried but I am terrified. I've done some reading online and wonder if I might be experiencing "fragile tissue" problems due to the radiation?  Any thoughts?

Thanks.

  • Hello LauraP,

I'm sorry to hear that you are still seeing blood after using the dilator and are now terrified of what that could mean. If your symptoms don't stop perhaps it might be a good idea to contact your doctor and let them know.

Also, if you feel like an opinion of someone medically trained might help, they are available on this number 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday, between 9 a.m - 5 p.m.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you Renata.  I have made an appointment for an examination on the 13th. I had thought I was well on my way to conquering my fears but seeing the blood, even a small amount, is like a punch in the stomach!
