Follow up appointment

Hello I'm fallmare

I had a endoscopy 5 weeks ago and it came back normal..

Some people I made friends with on this site know I suffer from extreme health anxiety. And have therapy for. But I have a out patient appointment in 2 weeks and I'm so worried.

Has anyone else been through this

And why do I have to go back?

I'd appreciate and advice.

Thankyou all.

  • Hello Fallmare,

It's great that you have sought help for your extreme health anxiety and I hope that therapy will help you break the vicious cycle that can often result from suffering from chronic health anxiety. Focus on the fact that it is amazing news that your endoscopy 5 weeks ago came back normal. I am not sure why you are having this follow up appointment - it may be something they do routinely after an endoscopy or that they want to discuss your symptoms with you and how to help you feel better. In any case, it's amazing news that your results came back normal so try not to worry too much. It's great that you have the opportunity for a follow up appointment - it will be a great chance to ask questions if you have any and get reassurance this way.

I hope everything goes well at your follow up appointment!

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Lucie

    Thankyou for your message.

This next test is more detailed so clearly something is very wrong..

Or they wouldn't be doing it surely?

Has anyone else been through this?

    Thankyou all

  • I am no expert, but I wouldn't say a more detailed test means something is very wrong. It could just be that if the first test didn't find anything, they want a more detailed one to find out what is wrong/to be sure it's not serious. I recently had some bowel symptoms and had a FOBT, which came back negative, but when the symptoms continued, the doctor said I should go ahead with the colonoscopy. Had it yesterday and turned out there was nothing wrong. Which I thought and the doctor thought and the specialist thought, but there was just that tiny chance that had to be ruled out.

I know how scary it is. Even knowing the odds of anything bad were very low, I was panicking all summer and I don't even have a history of health anxiety (I did have thyroid cancer and was told beforehand that that was very unlikely too, so that was probably a lot of the reason).

    Hope you get good news.

  • Hello Margaretmary.

    Nice to virtually meet you.

    I'm glad your ok :-)

I'm so frightened because it's to do with the pancreas.

The next test is more detailed.

I'm not sure how much of the pancreas is seen on a endoscopy..

I'm so worried because even though endoscopy was normal they've waited for quite a while to do another test!!! And why if previous was normal

    Best wishes

  • Fallmare, any update on this? I feel for you. I am currently experiencing many of the symptoms of pancreatic cancer and no one believes me and I'm too scared to have an MRI as I don't want treatment due to nothing being a cure.
