First time on here..

Just got my results back from my smear test on Saturday (I waited nearly 5wks for results) I'm HPV positive, which it says is a common virus (I've had it twice before I think on previous smear tests) on my letter it also says they found changes to some of the cells in my cervix, Called "Borderline" and now it says i just have to wait 14 days for a letter to be posted for an Appointment for a Colposcopy. I am quite calm about this considering, and in a wierd way I just had a secret icky feeling that something was up... (I can't explain it I just knew) but im not worried and I think there's no point in stressing or having anxiety (or Googling) ‍♀️ (you've gotta laugh girls! Ha until we go for the Colposcopy and then we'll no more x (I no it's easier said than done) x I haven't told anyone yet.. just found this site and here I am! The thing that's worrying me more is my best friend who was only 34 at the time, passed away 3 years ago of cancer. So obviously this all hits home a bit! and I'm really close to her Mam and family but I'm not sure wether I should tell her Mam just yet.. it's just we are so close! I'd probably get wrong for not telling her! Ha ️ but I also don't want her to worry especially after what she's been through.. (sorry for the long post I just wrote from the heart! Thank u for reading xx

  • Hey,

Just to say, this happened to my friend earlier this year. She tested positive for HPV and had borderline changes.

I've had a colposcopy for a cervical ectropian and it's really no worse than a smear test. They should just keep you under regular observation but I very much doubt anything more sinister.

my friend was given another smear around 6 months later and it came back clear even for HPV so it's very common!
