First time Chemo side affects

Hey so I my mother in law has stage 4 bowel cancer and started chemo via IV on Friday. She finished chemo on Sunday afternoon. All seemed well until this evening when she started vomiting and came down with a fever of 37.9 afterwards. Has this happened to anyone else? - am new to this forum so thought to ask.

Hello JVP; I am sorry your mother-in-law has Stage 4 bowel cancer.  I have attached information about side effects of chemotherapy.   I have never had chemotherapy myself but have seen friends who have also suffered vomiting.  My experience is by no means extensive so I thought this attachment might be helpful.  In the morning I expect people with personal experience will come and chat with you.  Welcome to this forum.  Annie

  • Hi @JVP - I hope your mum's nausea and vomiting was kept under control?

I have steroids prescribed as well as Emend, a great anti-sickness med that brings my nausea under control and has, so far, prevented any vomiting. (Fingers crossed for the next two sessions!).

All the best to you and your mum.
