First step

Hello, I am a 21 year old male. Few months back had testicular pain thought it was linked to back pain but found a lump on one but has no grown or changed. Pain recently been abit worse. After reading a few stories I have decided I'm going to and have it checked. Which I am very nervous about (it being cancer and not a confident person if you understand) any advice would be great. Thanks.

  • Hi there, welcome to the forum. I can't comment on your particular issue since I am female, but I wanted to let your know that we do read the posts on here and try to respond as soon as possible. Perhaps someone who can relate to your situation will respond soon. What I can say though, all of us on here know what its' like to be waiting for test results, (after we've bitten the bullet to go and have it checked out) so don't feel bad about being nervous. Of course, we always think the worse in these situations too and that isn't always the way it turns out. There could be many other reasons for the symptoms you are having besides cancer, so the sooner you have it checked, the sooner you will have answers and can get on with treatment for it.

You want advice, get your symptoms checked out so you can put your mind at ease. Not having it checked will cause you more stress than getting some answers. Come on here after you do and let us know how you are with it, regardless of the outcome. There is support on here for you and many people who can respond to your worries. We know what its' like to worry.

    Take care.

  • please do not delay and go see your GP/ be referred to an oncologist. The symptoms are important to talk about and get examined. You are young and the treatment is brilliant. My family have one person diagnosed in his teens and he is fine now many years later after treatment. So deep breath be brave and go for it!! debsxx

  • Hi Lorraine, thank you for your reply. I have been reading a few posts on here which has helped me build up the courage to have a check up. So I do plan ASAP on Monday to book an appointment for as soon as. I have also searched the Internet and have found out it could be many things. And if it is cancer then it is very treatable if found early enough which has given me hope. Thanks.

  • Thank you Debs. Knowing this helps me a lot. I do plan on getting it checked ASAP. Thank you for your kind words.

  • you are very welcome. My cousins son had one testicle removed and some treatment and went on to have 2 children later so there is a big light at the end of a cancer story should that be what you have. Good luck and I am glad you are seeing the GP. Let us know how you get on.debsx

  • Quick update. I have booked an appointment for June 2nd (earliest one). Thanks.

  • good luck for the appointment and why not change your name so you are not unknown. We are friendly in the forum and you can choose any name but I like my own, it has been with me all my life so bye for now Debs x

  • Hi, thank you. Tried to edit name already. Don't know how. Dean (real name)

  • Hello Dean,

    Best wishes,
