First smear test

Hi, just looking for some reassurance or those having experienced a similar thing. I recently had my first NHS (Sep 2019) cervical screening which showed abnormal cells and a HPV infection. Followed by  a colposcopy and biopsy which confirmed CIN 1 and HPV infection. The nurse said it the cells were covering a large amount of quarters (I don’t know what that means)  but said it looked like it could have been a higher grade and that it looked like it was going away, she also said it took a very long time for the cells to turn white which she said was a very good sign.  I was told to wait 6 months and come back for a repeat smear and colposcopy... at first I was relieved but being a recent health anxiety sufferer, this has triggered me and  now I’m panicking again thinking the worst and what if something sinister happens by the time I go back in May. Is it safe to leave it for that many months, why won’t they just treat the cells? I understand there are people dealing with far worse but I just need some reassurance really xx
