First mammogram anyone no when this happens a year from diag

Hi does anyone no when the first mammogram follows is it one year from diagnosis or one year from operation ?
I was told we will see you in a year

love Lara ️

  • Hi Lara,

Only giving this from my experience, here in Hampshire. I had breast cancer first time in 2019 diagnosed in the August, surgery in October and my yearly repeat mammogram have been the end of October each year. Sadly returned end of last year so I'm fortunate was picked up early. All the best going forward for you Sally

  • Sally

thsbk you so much for your reply

I'm so sorry you had a reoccurrence it's a worry how are you doing ? Have you got your treatment plan
    love Lara

  • ️ Ahh thank you for enquiring Lara, I had a wide local excision in Jan which was supposed to be followed up with radio but didn't get clear margins and ended up having to go in for a mastectomy last month. I'm just starting to feel a bit more myself and recovery has been slower than I thought it would be. I'm due back to work on 30th Sally

  • Sals

it's a terrible time for us we always have the worry of it returning my lunpectomy was July and I had full node clearance in august already I'm waiting for my first check

it's awful you had to go through all this again once is enough and to have to go through it all again is awful

I had radiotherapy in November did you get that first time around ?
    love Lara ️

  • Hi no Lara I didn't  ... first time around they felt risk outweighed the benefit as was small and they did get clear margins and was above my heart. However in hindsight I think maybe now maybe they were saving it?? .. as I didn't  know that you can only have radiotherapy once on your breast. I will still have yearly mammograms on my one breast. Couldn't have recon so am thinking I might be brave when I'm fully healed. You said it was Summer how are you feeling now.?   Sally ️

  • Sally

yes I had the 2 operations 2 weeks apart then started radiotherapy early nov  take tamoxifen since nov do you take these ?
wow deffo get a tatoo brilliant

    love Lara ️

  • Lara

Hope the radio wasn't too bad, I've not experienced it. No don't take any meds. Think will be quite a long time before the tattoo happens but can take my time designing eh :D

My daughter has 5 and my eldest son has lots of them too so I'm sure they'll be well impressed ha ha.

Hope you don't have to wait too long to get the appointment letter through & the wait for results are swift then hope all will be well ️ It's like a cloud that follows us around now isn't it.. keep smiling and be kind to yourself x

  • Sally

you are lucky you were not given the tablets I have gained weight round my middle .

im sure after this time for you all is going to be clear and you will be free of it forever

yes get designing I'm sure you will have something amazing after all you have been through

keep smiling too my lovely ️

  • Ahh thank you Lara

My middle has expanded without the meds but I've not been to yoga since the end of Oct .. been hibernating and now I'm too sore but starting to go on walks now and have put some of my tight stuff on Vinted maybe make a few pounds.

How have you coped with the financial impact? I found after doing a bit of research I wasn't eligible for any support that I could see. My husband took early retirement last year and he has a good pension but I've only got SSP so drastic cut in my pay isn't at all helpful when the worry of it all is enough already.. anyhow probably best leave you to your evening. Take care Lara

    x ️
