Hello Nannychrissy
I’m sorry to read of your diagnosis and I’m afraid I cannot help with your question on benefits as I have no experience of this. Macmillan do have financial advisors if you give them a call, and they may be able to help.
However, I have a lot of experience of cervical cancer having been through it twice, so if I can help you with anything on that side of things I’d be happy to do my best.
THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY. I WILL SEE ABOUT THAT LATER. I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR YOU HAVE HAD TWO LOTS OF CANCER. I HAVE JUST BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH CERVICAL CANCER, AM NOW WAITING TO START TREATMENT. HOWEVER I HAVE JUST HAD AN EPISODE OF BLEEDING AGAIN, I WAS TOLD AT THE HOSPITAL THAT IF THE BLOOD STARTED POURING OUT I SHOULD SEND FOR AN AMBULANCE BUTS I WOULD SAY ITS LIKE A PERIOD REALLY.
Have you had your diagnosis of what stage and treatment plan? Normally it’s a concern if you fill a pad an hour.
NO NOT YET I AM HAVING A PET SCAN NEXT WEEK THEN THEY ARE GOING TO WORK OUT A PLAN OF TREATMENT NO I HAVE NOT FILLED A PAD IN ONE HOUR.X
The bleeding is unfortunately something that happens with this cancer, and normally going to hospital would be for really severe bleeding/haemorrhaging as there’s not really much they can do about it if you go to a&e.
thankyou for this information, so this bleeding is really a part of the type of cancer i have.
Chrissy
Yes, it is a part of having cervical cancer-it was one of my symptoms when I had bleeding after the menopause.
thankyou for that, have you any idea how long the bleeding lasts? the doc at hospital said he could perform surgery if it didnt stop, have you any idea what they would do. p.s what stage are you at now?
Chrissy
Everyone is different-I was diagnosed stage 2b, so I had chemo and radiotherapy and the bleeding stopped 2 weeks into treatment. The stage of the cancer will determine the treatment you get...for example if it’s early stage cancer it might be a hysterectomy, but at my stage it was too advanced to have surgery. I’m not sure what surgery your doctor would be talking about to stop bleeding, but early stage cervical cancer can in many cases be treated with a hysterectomy. But you won’t know what kind of treatment will be possible until the stage of cancer can be established by scans etc. Hopefully you won’t have too long to wait for your pet scan results once you have it next week.
hello again i am so sorry to be asking you questions again but did you bleed non stop untill you started treatment and was it heavy/light/? i was ok but bled again after hysteroscopy stopped again then blead after colposcomy last tuesday had to be kept in overnight, they packed it and put a catheter in, it was horrible.
