Feeling worrid

Hi,

My name is Kat and I'm 45 years old, for 6 months I have felt full, loss of appetite, pain during snuggle time followed by bleeding. My GP tested me for ovarian cancer then a CT scan, the blood test came back normal, the scan couldn't find my ovaries, I was then referred to a gynoglocist. She did a hystocopy and a biopsy however it was a disaster as Icollapsed and she couldn't complete the procedure.  I didn't speak to the consultant afterwards but since then I have received a letter stating I have a tumour by the cervix, polyps and fibroids. I'm scared as this has been going on for 6 months and now everything is urgent.  I am having another hystocopy but under General anaesthetic.   I feel quite upset as I only found out by letter that I am being referred to an oncologist and I can't sleep. I keep trying to stay positive but it's the not knowing.

Any tips how I can sleep before my next appointment on Monday?

  • Hello Hershey the Cat!  Welcome to the forum.  I wish there was a magic recipe for sleeplessness where your mind just goes round and round and round and.....   When I am stresed I go to bed with my usual mug of sweet cocoa and a book to read for a little while; then I play various games in my head; just simple things like thinking of a capital city beginning with A, then B etc - you get the picture; or towns in the UK beginning with A etc etc.  You can chose just about any subject, animal names, places you have been on holiday.  Usually works eventually. If I wake up again I usually get myself another warm drink, a food supplement drink available from supermarkets and chemists is good if you are not eating properly, read a book again until I get sleepy.  I don't mean to sound flippant about your very real worries but thought I would offer something that just might get you off to sleep, especially if you don't want to use sleeping tablets.  Fingers and everything else crossed for Monday!  Best wishes.  Annie

  • Hi Kat

    How did you get on?

I have had a cervical polyp found too at my smear test (smear came back clear), and 5 months pp after baby. I've to get day surgery under anesthetic to have the polyp removed and am terrified.

    Hope yours went ok xx
