Facing chemoradiotherapy

Have been diagnosed with esophagal cancer and i have been told the only treatment available for me is chemoradiation and then surgery but i have a massive phobia on vomiting so much so that i dont think i can do the treatment. I have about a week before i see the oncologist. Was wondering if anyone else has had to face treatment with emitophobia.

  • Hi Lea and welcome to the Cancer Chat forum.

I'm sorry about the tricky situation you find yourself in at the moment. Have you spoken about this with your medical team? If not, do be sure to do so as I'm sure they will do all they can to help with this. Our cancer nurses are also available for a chat on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m so do feel free to give them a call if you'd like to talk things through with them.

Hopefully some of our oesophageal cancer members will be along soon to share their thoughts and advice as well.

I wish you all the best with the journey ahead Lea.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Hiya thank you for reply, i have three mcmillan nurses wracking their brains on how to help best they can they suggest therapy but we all know there isnt time  i am meeting with them again on thursday and bringing with them a surgeon to discuss options and a dietician who has dealt with this phobia before, i was told that they are going for 100% cure and throwing the book at me because i am 47 and otherwise in perfect health which is good
