Endometrial Cancer

Hello everyone

i am new to this forum, happy to have found it!

I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer in December 2017. I’ve had a hysterectomy, chemotherapy and finished Radiotherapy and Brachytherapy  approx one month ago.

feel a bit in limbo after having so many weeks of daily trips to hospital. Having a few emotional ups and downs.

Hoping to return to work in the couple of months..... does anyone have experience of coping in work after a cancer diagnosis?

Looking forward to sharing experiences with with fellow warriors

xx

  • Hi i am new to this forum but also glad I found it. I was diagnosed with stage 2  endometrial cancer December 2014. I have never got over the shock of it. I had a full hysterectomy January 2015. I have never felt the same about my body since. I was off work for a few months, then gradually started back. I had a lot of support from my husband, family and friends. 3 years on I still find it difficult and worry it will spread somewhere else in my body.

  • Hi

Glad you’ve nearly finished your treatment and wish you well.

I wondered if you had a biopsy and if so how long you waited for the results.

i had a hysteroscopy last Friday and had a biopsy as they said I had a 14mm uterus with thickened Polypoid endometrium.

she said she couldn’t reassure me as couldn’t call it but would send my biopsy off and try to get them back in a week.

Unfortunately not back yet when I phoned the secretary and she said to try early next week.

im really finding this wait unbearable and wondered how long others have to wait?

  • May I ask how you found the brachytherapy......I had a hysterectomy on Aug 6 and was given the histology results on Aug 17 - stage1B, grade 1 endometrial cancer. I've been referred to my local cancer hospital on Sept 13 and the hospital that carried out my op has suggested brachytherapy.

I've been off work since Feb with depression and had been hoping to return to work by the end of Sept, however that's now up in the air!

  • I’m sorry you have to go through this.

I had radical hysterectomy 2/2/18 followed by 25 treatments of external radiation & one brachytherapy treatment. It is my understanding there are a couple of kinds of brachytherapy. The kind I had was very easy, nothing like the external.

I was dx with stage 3 grade1 endometrial cancer. The biopsy showed no node involvement. Dealing with bladder retention due to surgery & radiation has been very problematic.

Sendind you good wishes & easy brachytherapy.

Feel free to reach out to me.

  • Wow, you’ve been through a lot. Thank you for sharing

Can I ask what stage & grade of endometrial cancer was your diagnosis?

i have found it amazing how much the radiation takes out of me.  my last visit was mid June and I’m still tired and sore.

Because I work for myself which has pluses and minuses I can set my own hours but it’s still exhausting.

i hope your return to work goes well. I look forward to hearing from you.  I hope you return to good health

    thank you

  • Hello All

You are all amazing and it’s inspiring to hear what your have and are still  going through, and all still here alive and kicking !! I’m new on here and am quite terrified at the moment . I had a biopsy on Thursday which the consultant is concerned about ; she has marked as urgent and said they will be in touch within 7 days . On the screen we could see something which she said had a strong blood supply; she said it could be cancer or possible hyperplasia. I’ve had no symptoms other than anaemia , did you all have symptoms, how did they let you know the results were back . A million questions I guess xx

  • Good morning

I’ve been told by all ( many) of my Docs my case is very unusual.

I guess my symptoms were, being a little tired, poor appetite, & I had one blood spot (I’m post menopause) at which I time I immediately scheduled a pelvic exam. There was a nurse practitioner who called a gynecologist into the room. They both suspected cancer although they didn’t say it out load there was much whispering. They took 3 biopsies which came back adenocarcenoma grade 1. I was then scheduled to see a gyno oncologist who took another biopsy & ordered a cat scan. She said it could not be staged until histology reports from radical hysterectomy.

The results came stage 3b grade 1. My doc ordered pathology to take another look for unclear margins. There was one area not clear. I was then referred to radiation oncologist who recommended external radiation rather than 3 treatments of brachytherapy. I had one brachytherapy treatment.

This may be far more than you asked.

Please stay positive, it may be nothing but I know how scary it is. It’s a journey that takes time. Some of these processes you can’t rush.

Please feel free to ask any questions. One of my biggest frustrations is not finding anyone who’s gone through a similar process.

My thoughts will be with you.

    Thx for your reply

  • Hello

thank you for your reply, I’m post menopausal too . It’s like a foreign language that I’m hoping I don’t have to learn however if faced with the worst I can see there is a lot of support on here.

Im scared to know the result but at the same time need to know.

I’m sending positive wishes and hugs your way xx

  • Hi Rosesforever,

Thanks for your story. My mum has also been diagnosed with endometrial cancer but still waiting for test results to see what stage and where its stemmed from so they can decide which is the right course of chemo for her.

She had a full hystorectomy on 8th July but the wound split open on her stomach, so now has a vac pump attached to her stomach for the next 6 weeks. Cant start chemo until that heals.

In the last couple of days she has noticed blood when weeing. Does anyone know if thats normal? She is 63 and been through her menopause?

    Thanks

    Chloe xx

  • Dear Chloe,

So sorry to hear about your mom’s dx. Waiting for the pathology report is the hardest.  I had radiation after 9 weeks of healing but no chemo. I would suggest your mom or you call your doctor. The blood could be coming from your mom’s Bladder which needs to be checked but may be normal. Your mom needs lots of rest. It’s a long journey for your mom and you. Sending best wishes and healing energy to your mom. Please keep us posted and ask any questions. Hugs
