Hi Milsy,

Thank you for your update. I am glad to hear that your problem seems to be due to varicose veins. It is good that your support tights are helping. We all know our own bodies best and have to perservere if we are not getting any answers.

Kind regards,

Dull aching in right leg

I have the same aching right leg symptoms which came on about 3 weeks ago. It seems to be worse after driving any distance and also when sitting. No problems walking (I regularly do 12+ miles) or other similar things but kneeling back on my heels (as in` pose of the child') is also very painful incalf area. I am 69 but only recently off HRT.??

Hi NG,

Welcome to the forum. I am sorry to hear about your leg problems. Have you contacted your GP? If not, you should do so, as there are a number of tests s/he can do.

Kind regards,

Dull aching in right leg

18 Aug 2019 14:57 in response to Jolamine

Hello there,

I have been experiencing a dull ache in my right calf for about a week  ever since I returned from a trip abroad on the plane, sort of a deep dull ache only when I’m resting.

The other night the same pain came on my right arm same side, the pain got more intense in the night to a point where it was so uncomfortable, 111 advised a&e. At A&E they were querying blood clots however after blood tests this confirmed not to be true and sent me home with pain killers and muscle relaxants. However the painkillers only make me sick and numb the pain and muscle relaxants do not make the pain go away,

The pain in my arm has not gone away and is quite intense when resting and the ache in my leg is also still present.

I’m usually very healthy and I’m 20. I have an active job and generally quite an active person

Anyone got any thoughts?

Hi Emu,

Welcome to the forum.

You are young to be having this sort of problem.

It sounds as if a visit to your GP should be your next move. Don't leave it for too long, just in case there are any clots present. Mention to the receptionist that you have been to A & E, but that you are still having problems and would like an emergency appointment.

Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

Kind regards,

Hi Jolamine,

Yes they did blood tests for blood clots and they said it was clear for this, I can’t tell whether the pain is muscular or bone pain or to do with my circulation, it’s worse when resting and at night. They gave me muscle relaxants in case it’s muscular but they just make me sick and don’t help with the pain.

Thankyou xx

Hi Emu,

I know that you had tests for clots when you were at the hospital, but it sounds as if you need further investigation and, you're better finding out the reason for this now, rather than waiting until it does really become a serious problem.

It won't do any harm to have the opinion of another doctor. Hence, my advice to see your GP.

Kind regards,

Hi,

Saw the doctor today, they say because the blood test for blood clot was clear they’ve let me go and told me to keep an eye on it, the painkillers they gave me make me sick. It’s so painful at night don’t know what to do.

Anyone got any suggestions as to what it may be?

Thankyou Happy

Hi Emu,

Most of us on this site either have cancer or are caring for someone with cancer. We are not doctors, so cannot really give you any suggestions as to what this might be.

I am glad that you saw your GP today. Did they give you any other painkillers which might not make you sick and,did they give you any idea of what else might be causing the pain?

Don't hesitate to go back to your GP if the pain persists., as you shouldn't be having this sort of trouble at your age.

It might be worth phoning the nurses on this site to ask them for advice. Their number is 0808 800 4040.

Hi

i have been having the same problem for just over a week now, I had an ingrown toe nail which has now healed but it caused a dull pain in my right leg and the pain is still there.

I went to the docs for my toe and they gave me antibiotics but my leg is still no better it’s like pain in my calf but it feels a deep pain.

anyone got any ideas about this ?

thanks

Hi am,

It sounds as if the antibiotics have healed your ingrown toenail, but the piece of nail that caused the trouble is still digging in. It may start up again when you finish taking the antibiotics.

The only permanent solution to this is to see a HCPC registered podiatrist, who can remove the offending piece of nail. The pain should then settle.

Kind regards,

Hi jolamine

Thanks for your reply. My nail seems to be fine now there isn’t any pain around it - I have been to the pharmacist today and she suspected it may be a trapped nerve in my leg and said it has nothing to do with my ingrown toe nail.

i did go to the gym a few days before I started getting the pain and I was on the treadmill sprinting but I only have pain in one leg so I’m still unsure if this is a trapped nerve?

i have had the pain for just over a week now and isn’t any better , pharmacist gave me paracetamol and ibrufen - told me to go walk in centre if not better within 1-2 weeks.

Does it sound like a trapped nerve ? The pain is in much calf and it feels like a growing pain but I’m 21 so sure it’s not that.

thanks
