Don’t know what is going to happen next

Hi all,

I haven’t posted for a few weeks as you can imagine things have been hectic.

Dad has had 2 biopsy’s now and both have come back inconclusive the poor dab now has to have another needle guided biopsy, dad’s consultant had said the pet scan and x rays etc show that it’s cancer and his body is behaving like he has cancer(4stone weight loss since Christmas) and they have staged his cancer (T4 N3 M1B)he also has metastasis in the lymph nodes and stomach, its all so very confusing why the biopsy results have come back inconclusive.

On top of the cancer which is bad enough dad also has emphysema and Interstitial lung disease so with regards to treatment he can’t have radiotherapy because his lungs are so scarred and they may not be able to give and chemotherapy as dad isn’t in  no fit state to withstand the treatment so again we have both come away from seeing the consultant mind boggled and baffled with no idea what is going to happen next.

In the mean time dad is in a lot of pain and isn’t eating that much the palliative care team are going to contact him at some point in the week to see if they can control his pain.

  • All I can say is that last year I nursed my brother through untreatable cancer, and I found the palliative care team absolutely fantastic . They had more time than the other staff who were battling to find solutions and cures and were always under pressure . My brother was intolerant of most medicines, but they calmly carried on until they found him the ideal pain killer. I kept apologising everytime I had to ring and say that something wasn't working out, but honestly,  they all had the patience of saints and gave us both all possible support. I hope things go as well as possible x
