Does it sound like cancer?

Hi! Just looking for advice really...

I started with symptoms about 4 months ago but due to coronavirus, my urgent referral keeps getting rescheduled so I'm lost at the moment.

I've had dysphagia for years, since I was a child, diagnosed with strictures (benign) but my mother didn't want me going through surgery as a child so I had my tonsils removed to create room and that was that. However the last 6 months, my dysphagia is worse, struggling at most meal times so I booked an appointment with the gp. I've been waiting for an endoscopy to be done since then. In the meantime though, I have had really bad issues with indigestion after every meal, waking up at night in agony and feeling sick all day long. I've had a sore throat for about a month and a hoarse voice too. I've also had pleurisy twice they think in 4 weeks due to pain when I breath deeply which now just seems to be there all the time. Gp has booked an xray but xray so we'll see...

Does this sound like cancer or am I overthinking?

  • Hello harriet123

I'm sorry to hear about your ongoing health problems. It's natural that you're feeling anxious about what may be going on and certainly spending a lot of time thinking about things can lead you down a rabbit hole of what ifs and maybes

Hopefully the x-ray that your GP has requested will give some firmer answers about the query over pleurisy.

I hope that you won't have to wait too much longer for the endoscopy.

    Best wishes,
