Doctor found lump in breast and referral to breast clinic

Hi all

For the past 2/3 weeks my left breast just hasn't felt right, feels heavy and dull and a sort of burning sensation? is the only way to put it. Noticed after showering in the mirror that my left breast was so much bigger than the right and swollen at the side near to armpit so much so made me second glance in mirror. Had a feel for any lumps after googling my symptoms and they both felt lumpy so wasn't too worried as it just felt normal. Went to gp this morning and as she was feeling my breasts paused while feeling the left and her face changed I asked what was wrong and she carried on having a feel and asked me to get dressed. She explained she has found a lump that she is concerned about and has referred me to breast clinic. Going out of my mind with worry now I'm 26 with a young daughter and worried incase it turns out th worst! has anyone ever had same symptoms and turned out nothing to worry about? I've had no appetite for around a week and some vomiting which doctor wasn't interested in listening to when I told her would appreciate any replies thank you x

sprry forgot to add that my Areola had changed shape and sort of pulling outwards towards armpit (same side go felt lump)

  • Hello Mummy2myla,

You've done the right thing going to the GP this morning to get your breast checked out and it seems like your GP is being thorough and I hope you won't have to wait too long to be seen at the breast clinic. It is normal to be feeling really worried at the moment and I hope that you will meet some of our other ladies here who have had a similar experience and that they will come and share their story with you. So many here have been to the breast clinic before and I am sure they will drop by and tell you more about what to expect from your appointment there.

I can imagine it must be really difficult for you to concentrate on anything else while waiting to be seen and to find out more but try if you can to avoid looking anything up on Google as it will only make you worry more. Try if possible to focus on looking after your little girl instead as I am sure she is keeping you very busy!

I think it might be worth making another doctor's appointment to mention your lack of appetite and the vomiting. It may be caused by so many different things but a doctor will be able to help you with this. Perhaps you could ask to see a different doctor on this occasion?

Keep us updated on how things go at the breast clinic if you can!

    Best wishes,

  • Hi lucie,

thank you, yes I'm trying to put it to the back of my head and enjoy Christmas with my little girl. I've been talking to a few women on another thread who have helped so much they've been through the same some good news and some bad news. The vomiting has stopped now maybe it was a little bug I picked up. Found a lump in armpit this evening too and been having shooting pains in the breast I have problem with I feel ok in myself though so will mention everything at breast clinic. I have my app for 28th praying for some good luck x

  • Hi there,

Sorry to hear about this. I'm in a similar position - how did you get on?
