Dieting, Nutrition and General Welbeing (Colorectal Cancer)

Struggling to find the perfect food for my dad to eat, food that doesn't make him feel sick or give him an upset stomach.

In the morning he'll have either cerial (Cornflakes/Weetabix) along with either a coffee or glass of No Added Sugar fruit juice.

Afternoon will see that he eats either a small salad, a mug of soup with 1/2 a lightly buttered roll/a baked potato with tuna mayo with a small portion of green grapes, a kiwi fruit or a small rice pudding tub with a glass of flavoured water.

And dinner will see him eating things like homemade macaroni cheese on toast, steak pie with mash and veg or fish and chips.

Analgesia and Antibiotics currently being administered at 6am, 12 noon, 6pm and 10pm.

What does you/your family eat while living with cancer? How do you make your food budget stretch?

  • Hi.

My mum drinks vegetable juices. Porridge for breakfast or boiled eggs. Something simple for lunch maybe a roll with chicken and salad. Dinner salmon with rice.

We shop main shop in Lidl and aldi. Few bits in tesco. Meal plan to not waste anything

  • Hi, I realise at this time you will be concentrating on whatever foods your dad will eat but I was just wondering if you had considered an all plant based diet? Im asking this as I watched a documentary called "what the health" and it certainly made me have some regrets on what I gave to my dad whilst he had terminal cancer. Although when he was very unwell we would give him anything he wanted, but on better days I do believe we could have gave him less processed options! I really hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes, I just wish I knew then what I knew now! Please let me know how you get on and your family is in my thoughts! Sending so much love and hugs xxxx
