Diagnosed with non Hodgkin lymphoma stage 4

Due to start chemo Tuesday but have decided to delay it as chemo will possibly affect treatment for compression fracture of spine with disk impingement of nerves.

I don't see spinal surgeon until 21st Nov.

  • So sorry to hear about the diagnosis, but take comfort that lymphoma tends to be a slow grower. Best to get your spine sorted first so you don't have to deal with that on top of the treatment when it finally comes around :)

    Sending you well wishes

  • Thank you Rose

I have a dropped foot and had MRI where a tumor was found in my hip. It is widespread within bones but as I can't walk properly and have a problem with my balance  and having chemo would jeopardize any treatment. Chemo is meant to give me a better quality of life but unless I can walk properly I feel chemo will be to much to cope with.

I have emailed the nurse telling her of my decision.

My friends think I am doing the wrong thing and have made the wrong decision.

  • Ultimately the nurses and specialists will be able to advise you what they think is best for your own specific requirements and issues.

Ultimately it's you're decision one way or another and it sounds as though you've thought it through. I'm sure friends only think you are doing the wrong thing as they think it is delaying your recovery, which is understandable however they should respect your choice in time will realise you're doing what you're doing for your own reasons and what you believe is best for you.

Hope goes well and you recieve a positive message back from the nurses.

    Rose

  • Thank you so much.

Chemo may save my life but it will not give me quality.

Once chemo messes up my blood the damage is done and treatment of other conditions, unrelated to the cancer, will be out of the question. It may only be a wait of about 5 weeks before I get all the information I need

I feel comfortable with my decision.

Your response is very much appreciated, Sue
